Section 1. Compatible PC and Language |

Runs on Windows 11 (64-bit). The screen resolution is 1500*900 pixels, assuming use on a desktop PC. Output to a laptop takes longer, but is operable. There are no CPU restrictions, but an i5 or higher is ideal. There are 60,000 rows of shipping data, which places a significant load on the PC. The languages used are VB.Net and ADO.NET. ADO.NET SQL is used for integration with Access and analysis and aggregation. SQL is fast, has clear processing instructions, and is easy to maintain. The image on the left shows an example of using SQL to create tables in Access for total and daily aggregations. VB.Net is used for screen display and calculations after screen output. The popular Office Access database was selected for storing the data. The database data tables are disclosed and can be reused. The attached shipping data is original Tera Calculation data. This was created based on data from a 20-year-old electrical parts wholesaler (a company that no longer exists). The fields used were item, shipping destination, and bulk quantity, with shipping destination and item symbolized. The quantity, PL case load, case capacity, and weight were created using random numbers generated within certain rules. The shipping route, item classification, shipping classification, and shipping route were newly added fields, and the data are also pseudo-data. The shipping date was set to a recent date to add realism. The shipping data was adjusted to ensure that the output results after calculations did not differ from those of an actual operating distribution center. |
